The National Communications Authority Staff Association (NCASA) has extended its heartfelt congratulations to Rev. Ing. Edmund Yirenkyi Fianko on his appointment as the Director General of the National Communications Authority (NCA).
The announcement was made on January 24, 2025, following the resignation of his predecessor, Joe Anokye. Rev. Fianko’s appointment marks a notable milestone as he becomes the first individual to rise to this position from within the NCA itself.
In a statement released, the NCASA congratulated Rev. Fianko on his well-deserved appointment, highlighting his impressive career trajectory within the organization. Starting as a National Service Personnel (NSP) at the NCA in 2004. He has steadily advanced through the ranks, culminating in his recent position as Director of Engineering, which he held since January 2024.
The NCASA highlighted that Rev. Fianko’s journey exemplifies dedication and leadership, stating, “Your remarkable journey is a true testament to your dedication, expertise, and exemplary leadership.” They expressed confidence that under his guidance, the NCA will continue to excel in regulating Ghana’s communications sector.
Rev. Fianko brings over 20 years of experience in telecommunications regulation and policy formulation. His prior roles have included significant contributions to managing Ghana’s radio frequency spectrum and promoting fair competition within the industry. He has also been actively involved in international organizations such as the African Telecommunication Union (ATU) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
The Association also expressed gratitude to His Excellency the President for recognizing Rev. Ing. Fianko’s competence and promoting talent from within the Authority, describing it as a strong endorsement of his leadership capabilities.
“We are confident that under your leadership, the NCA will achieve even greater heights,” the statement read. “Your story inspires many and reflects the value of hard work, perseverance, and commitment to excellence.”
The NCASA pledged its unwavering support to Rev. Ing. Fianko as he embarks on this new chapter and wished him success in his role as Director General.
