A Communication Team Member of the Ghana National Fire Services, ADO I Mr. Nartey has charged Ghanaians to take their mental health seriously.
According to him, the utterances and demeanor of some Ghanaians towards the staff of Ghana National Fire Service are irritating when they step in to offer their help when there is a fire outbreak becomes outrageous.
He emphasized the importance of mental health and called for more substantial efforts to address mental health issues across the nation.
Speaking to Akua Sonto on Kasapa FM’s morning show, he reiterated that while physical health has traditionally been the focus of public health campaigns, mental health has been largely overlooked in Ghana.
He made this statement, after an alleged rumor from the general public about the fire service spraying petrol on the Kantamato fire outbreak.
Moreover, he addressed the issue of the Kantamato fire incident as the result of the gas cylinders that had been kept at the marketplaces by the market women which caused more explosions when the firefighters were fighting the fire.
