President John Mahama has appointed Dr. Nii Moi Thompson to chair the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), his second stint in the job.
He previously served at the commission during the erstwhile Mahama administration, overseeing the much-touted 40-year development plan launched in 2015.
The presidency’s statement which announced Dr. Thompson’s appointment explained that his responsibilities include working with the Finance Minister, Parliament and other Executive appointees to ensure Ghana’s socio-economic progress.
“As chairman of the Commission, he will collaborate more closely with the Minister for Finance, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, the Government Statistician, and other presidential appointees and representatives from the sixteen regions to provide strategic advice to the President and Parliament for Ghana’s development,” the statement said on Monday afternoon.
The presidency further disclosed that the former Head of the Ghana Free Zones Board, Albert Kwadwo Twum Boafo has been named Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Intelligence Centre.
