A former elder of the Church of Pentecost, Peter Kwame Adu, has been accused of defrauding his ex-girlfriend, Peggy Yeboah, of nearly GHS 200,000.
The case, which came to light through the social development programme Ento Woa Da on Kasapa FM, traces its origins to Mauritania, where the two were in a relationship six years ago.
According to Ms Yeboah, she met Mr Adu while living in Mauritania and was led to believe they would marry. During their two-year relationship, she reportedly supported his struggling business with significant financial contributions, amounting to GHS 195,000.
However, she later discovered that Mr Adu had been involved with another woman, prompting her to end the relationship and return to Ghana.
Following their breakup, Mr Adu, who was once an elder in the Church of Pentecost, was expelled from the church after being found guilty of misconduct. He later fell on hard times, battled illness, and eventually returned to Ghana.
Meanwhile, Ms Yeboah continued her search for Mr Adu in an effort to reclaim the money she had given him.
After four years of unsuccessful attempts to locate Mr Adu, Ms Yeboah turned to Ento Woa Da, a programme known for resolving social disputes.
With only a photograph of Mr Adu, the investigative team at Ento Woa Da tracked him down and brought him to the studio on Wednesday for a confrontation with Ms Yeboah.
The reunion in the studios of Kasapa FM was tense, with heated exchanges between the former couple. Following intense deliberations, Mr Adu agreed to a repayment plan in an effort to restore his reputation.
Listeners of the show were moved by Ms Yeboah’s ordeal, and many made financial contributions to support her. The host, Akosua Ahwenepa Gyambiby, successfully raised funds to help her start a small business selling bofrot (buff loaf).
Expressing gratitude, Ms Yeboah thanked the show’s team and listeners for their support.
