A 10-year-old boy, Nurudeen Abubakar, has tragically drowned in Salt Lake while fishing at Gomoa Nyanyano in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
According to information gathered by Ghone news, Yaw Boagyan revealed that Nurudeen went mising on Wednesday after returning from school.
Report days,his family members reported his missing to the police station while several announcements were made in various information centres.
His body was discovered floating on the lake on Thursday, February 20, 2025, in the evening when some fishermen were fishing on the lake.
The Assemblyman for the Upper Nyanyano electoral area,Isaac Quansah, confirmed.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been retrieved and has been deposited at the Mother and Child Hospital mortuary for preservation.
police have also launched an investigation into the incident.
The Assemblyman urged parents to take extra care in monitoring their children’s movements to prevent such tragedies from occurring again.
According to him,the community will do all that they can do to fence the lake to prevent children from going for fishing on the lake.
