The Kwahu Business Forum, a flagship initiative aimed at boosting local enterprise and economic growth, is set to expand its reach in the 2026 edition by including international exhibitors and business delegations from neighboring countries, according to Julius Debrah, Chief of Staff at the Presidency.
Speaking on the future direction of the Forum, Mr. Debrah revealed plans to elevate the event beyond its current national scope to a more regional platform. This expansion will see participation from business communities across West Africa, fostering cross-border trade and investment opportunities. The inclusion of international exhibitors is expected to enhance the diversity of products and services showcased, as well as create avenues for Ghanaian businesses to access new markets.
The Kwahu Business Forum, originally conceived by President John Dramani Mahama, has been instrumental in providing a platform for dialogue between financial institutions, private sector players, and government agencies. It focuses on promoting Small and medium enterprises (SMEs), particularly in agri-processing, manufacturing, and export-oriented businesses.
Mr. Debrah emphasised that the Forum is not merely a conference but a strategic initiative to support business growth through practical interventions, including financial support from state-owned banks and engagement with development partners such as the African Development Bank. The Forum’s format combines conference sessions, exhibitions, and networking opportunities to facilitate business development and partnerships
The 2026 edition’s international dimension aligns with President Mahama’s vision of positioning Ghana as a regional trade hub and accelerating export-led growth. It also complements plans to organise Ghana’s International Trade Fair in neighbouring countries, further promoting Ghanaian products and fostering regional economic integration
