“This is the first bold decision taken by a state official directly or indirectly involved in corruption, “according to Presidential Advisor on Governance and corruption, Daniel Batidam while commenting on the Transport Minister’s resignation, Thursday 23rd September, 2015 over the rebranded metro mass transit buses saga.

Transport Minister Dzifa Ativor resigned from her post, days ago.

A letter dated December 22, 2015, thanked the ruling Party and President Mahama for the opportunity to serve.

Her resignation comes hours after a report on the recent brouhaha over the metro mass branding saga hit her ministry and the ruling government.

Commenting on the Minister’s resignation, on Ultimate breakfast hosted by Prince Minkah on Ultimate 106.9 FM a sister radio station,  Mr. Batidam said the Minister’s action is a matter of principles and taking responsibility for the wrongs in her office, insisting that hardly does a public official sacrifices his/her position in the country.

He however cautioned the public not to look at it with political lenses and a feel of guilt on the part of the Minister,  adding that “all over in the world, especially in the most advanced countries it is almost a natural thing for people with whom the buck normally stops to take responsibility for any actions, commissions or omissions that happens under their supervision.”

He said this is a rare case in Africa, hence she must be commended for taking such responsibility.
