The Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Akwasi Kyei, has called for the immediately arrest and prosecution of Robert Owusu Tilton, immediate past Fomena Youth Organizer of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Tilton has threatened that he and the NDC will butcher their political opponents if any dare to cause mayhem before, during after the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

He made this observation during a political talk show on Kumasi-based BOSS FM on Tuesday.

The call for Tilton’s arrest, according to the NPP Communicator, was necessitated by the “unguarded, reckless, irresponsible and dangerous call his party members to take up arms and cutlasses to butcher and slaughter their political opponents in the up-coming general elections in the Ashanti Region”.

“We as a political party in the region are deeply concern about these developments because Robert Owusu Tilton is the Special assistant to the former Deputy Regional Minister, Joseph Yammin, and an aide to Brogya Genfi, the NDC regional youth organizer and a PC for Suame Constituency and as such his statement cannot be taken lightly”.

“As Ghanaians gear up to change this incompetent and highly corrupt NDC-MAHAMA government, they cannot allow some nation wreakers and war-mongers to derail the peace they have enjoyed over the years”, a statement released by the Ashanti Region NPP Director of Communications Friday in part read.

Tilton on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, during a political talk show on BOSS FM threatened that the NDC will butcher and slaughter their political opponents if they dare try to create any confusion before, during and after the November 7 general elections.

“We have sharpened our knives and machetes; we shall slaughter people who want to cause confusion in 2016. We have prepared ourselves very well; if people want to die then we shall help them to die. We don’t care even if 10 people vote in 2016”.

‘”We will cut people into pieces and assign them a place with the dead with our already sharpened cutlasses’’, he was heard saying on BOSS FM.

He further revealed even after persistent caution from the host that the Ashanti Regional Police Commander in the person of DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye was aware of the NDC’s preparations.

“In the past, some of the good proposals the NPP has put forward concerning our electoral process even during the NDC regime was adopted by the EC, so if today you suggest something and the EC turns you down you shouldn’t complain. Why, is Ghana for NPP alone?…let anyone tempt and see what will happen. We will cut people into pieces with our already sharpened cutlasses. Our sharpened cutlass will do the work. Even the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye supports me.”

The Police have since mounted a manhunt for him over his reckless comment that preaches violence.

The Criminal Investigative Department (CID) of the Police Service has requested a copy of the young politician’s comments which the police considers very dangerous, especially as the nation prepares for the November general elections.

Such beating of war drums by members of political parties in election year; is common especially as elections draw nigh.

This comment has put fear in a lot of people, coming on the back of the discovery and seizure of arms and ammunition in the country in the latter part of last year.

The police in Kumasi during the period discovered a cache of arms and ammunition at Alabar, a suburb of the metropolis, where a Burkinabe – suspected to be arms dealer – had stockpiled deadly weapons, including anti-aircraft rifle.

While the security agencies were grappling with the situation, another huge consignment of bullets was seized at Aflao in the Volta Region.
