The Ghana Gas Company has today shutdown its gas processing plant for routine maintenance works meant to last for two weeks.

A statement signed by the Corporate Communications Manager of Ghana Gas, Alfred Ogbamey, said “the planned maintenance, the second since lean gas and associated liquids production began at Atuabo, is expected to last approximately fourteen (14) calendar days.”

There are fears that the routine maintenance will worsen the current load-shedding programme as the company will have to cut the daily supply of about 115 million standard Cubic feet of natural gas to power the plant.

But the Volta River Authority (VRA) has said that the shutdown of Atuabo Gas Plant for routine maintenance works will not bring about any hitch in power production.

This website is reliably informed by sources close to the VRA that the move will not affect its ability to produce power, insisting that there won’t be shortfalls in the system because there is enough crude oil to fall on for the coming months.
