The management of Golden Star Resources Ghana Limited, has dismissed media reports that it is aiding and promoting galamsey in the Western region.

It was rife in the media that the mining firm based in the Western region was dealing with an illegal mining operator.

The Chronicle newspaper publication on January 22 followed with its 25th edition’s editorial headline:“It’s Official: Mining Giants Aiding Galamsey” suggested the company was apparently deep-neck in galamsey operations within its enclave.

However,  addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Mr Gerald Boakye, Head of Corporate Affairs of the Company, described what was making rounds in the media about the company’s involvement in galamsey deals as untrue.

“The company takes pains and goes through great lengths to undertake proper due diligence prior to its engagements and dealings with third party organizations, be they contractors, suppliers or service providers, to ensure that they are legitimate and responsible entities”.

He asked the public to disregard any such allegations, insisting that all its operations conformed with best practices and will not compromise on standards in the industry.
