Minority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has called on the state to prioritize the security of Members of Parliament.

His call comes in the wake of the killing of the Member of Parliament for the Abuakwa North Constituency of the Eastern Region, Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu.

He was stabbed this dawn at his residence at Shiashi in Accra.

Speaking on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM on the murder of the lawmaker, Mr. Kyei Mensah Bonsu echoed the need for Police protection for MPs.

According to him, there is no justification for parliamentarians to be denied enhanced security, “if DCE’s who are way down the governance structure are getting security; the state must take the issue of security for parliamentarians very seriously and take measures to ensure our safety.”

He expressed his dismay’ over the murder of his colleague calling on the Police to speed up investigations into the matter and bring the perpetrators to book.
