Speaking on Pluzz FM’s entertainment morning show, AM Pluzz, on Thursday 11th February 2016, Chris Koney, the Public Relations Manager for Shatta Wale and Shatta Movement stated the facts with regards reports by a website that ought to suggest that Shatta Wale deceived the public as being the brain behind the donation to the Police hospital in Accra this week.
According to Mr. Koney, the donation was done by Shatta Wale and Shatta Movement as part of the birthday celebration of one of the members of Shatta Movement by name King Bonney. He also revealed that all expenses incurred for the donation was paid for by Shatta Wale and Shatta Movement.
About the link between Shatta Wale and Living Saint Ministry (LSM), Mr. Koney indicated that Shatta Wale had no relationship with the organisation, rather the leader of the organisation who is a friend to Shatta Movement. The leader of the group by name Saint Alpha was tasked to facilitate the smooth execution of the donation. Saint Alpha then invited members of his organisation to come out and support with the donation, however, the group made no financial contribution towards the donation.
Mr. Koney also appealed to members of the media to be cautious and embrace proper journalistic practice when dealing with stories about the reputation and image of individuals and corporate entities.
“It is appropriate to have an objective and balanced story by speaking to all parties involved in the matter before going ahead to publish a story so you wouldn’t have to come back later to apologise when the harm has already been done. In this particular issue, the Gh base reporter could have called myself or the leader of the supposed organisation that Shatta Wale fronted the donation for to know the facts before going ahead to do his or her story“, he said.
Mr. Koney hinted of a major announcement soon to be made by the team with regards their corporate social investments and also indicated that as a group that believes in transparency, they will at all times let the public know organisations they partner for their projects and the specified roles of these organisations.
Saint Alpha has on other media platforms confirmed that the donation was done by Shatta Wale and Shatta Movement and he only facilitated the donation process.
