The success of Nigeria’s recently held elections was largely due to some lessons they took from Ghana’s Supreme Court Election Petition of 2013, Accra-based Lawyer Philip Addison says.

He said the West African country has never had any better election until the recent one that brought Mohammadu Buhari to power, adding that Ghana’s Election Petition had a positive impact on the former’s election.

Mr. Addison told Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM the process benefited other countries and not Ghana alone.

“Not only has Ghana learnt something from the Election Petition but across Africa i can tell you that that is what helped Nigeria. Nigeria has never held any proper election until the recent one. They picked a lot from our experience. So, I think that people have learnt a lot from it.”

Lawyer Philip Addison is seeking to become the parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Korle Klottey constituency. He faces a challenge from Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, a former constituency chairman and Samuel Nii Adjei Tawiah, a two-time parliamentary aspirant.
