Work is ongoing in earnest to complete a hundred bed capacity hostel for Yamfo Vocational Training Center, Employment Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, has announced.
The facility which is being funded by the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) would provide accommodation for female trainees of the Brong Ahafo based vocational training institute.
The initiative forms part of a number of measures being pursued by the Ministry to address the number of challenges confronting the training institute.
Mr. Iddrisu further announced that his outfit together with the NVTI Board is working jointly with the Planet CORE Education and Consulting Solutions FZ-LLC of India to retool the entire 34 NVTI Training Institutions including Yamfo Vocational Training Institute.
Under this intervention, the Brong Ahafo based vocational institute would benefit from one storey administration block, a two hundred bed capacity hostel (100 each for the boys and the girls), tools and equipment for catering, general electrical and masonry, capacity building for the instructional staff and one 4×4 Pick-up truck.
The Minister was responding to a question by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano North, Freda Akosua Prempeh, on what steps are being taken to improve infrastructure and re-tooling at Yamfo Vocational Training Center.
The Center, this website understands, is facing a number of challenges in the area of inadequate tools, equipment and physical infrastructure.
Mr. Iddrisu commenting further told the legislators that the Center’s needs assessment as well as the technical review of the tools and equipment and the physical infrastructure have been undertaken by the NVTI, with the Ministry of the Employment and Labour Relations, yet to carry out the next stage of the intervention measures.
