The police in the Northern Region are hard on the heels of a nurse at the Salaga Government Hospital for allegedly having sex with some girls who reported for medical attention and some pregnant women who attended the facility to be delivered of their babies.

The suspect, Evans Okyere, also known as Mubarak, believed to be in his 20s, is also said to have taken nude pictures of the women.

Okyere, who apparently got wind of his arrest, has fled the area.

In an interview, the Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr Ebenezer Tetteh, said the young victims’ ages ranged from 13 to 19.

He also said the suspect did not only take the pictures of his nude victims, but also those of the pregnant women who visited the hospital to be delivered of their babies.

Leakage

Mr Tetteh said the nude pictures leaked into the public domain and social media platforms and the matter was reported to the Salaga Police. However, before the police could arrest him, he got wind of it and fled  the town.

He said the police had intensified the search for the suspect and appealed to members of the public who had information about his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station.

Recall

In 2014, a similar incident rocked the Tamale Metropolis, the capital of the Northern Region, when Khamil Abu Wemah allegedly took nude pictures and videos of ladies, mostly nurses, university graduates and students that he had sex with, which became known as the ‘Tamale sex tape saga’ and went viral on the social media.

Wemah, who was resident abroad, fled the country and later apologised for his actions. – DAILY GRAPHIC
