A former spokesperson for ex- President John Agyekum Kufour, Andrew Awuni says most of the advisors of NPP Flagbearer Nana Akufo Addo’s are unable to rebuke him when he’s wrong because they live at his mercy.
According to him, the flag bearer needs people of substance who can look him in the face and tell him he’s wrong when the need arises.
Political watchers have severally criticized the handlers of the three-term Presidential Candidate for not being able to advise him against certain pronouncements and conduct which in their view is counter-productive in the political game.
Nana Akufo Addo is further said to have surrounded himself with his family members and cronies who continue to run his campaign, a situation which political watchers say if not checked will cost Nana the flag bearer the 2016 election.
Speaking to Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM, Andrew Awuni stated that Nana Akufo Addo will do himself and the NPP a lot of good if he picks persons who are self made as his advisors.
“You really need people of substance to be your advisors, some of the people around him are not persons of substance, they are just straw. They live on his hand- outs, you cannot be a good advisor if you live at the mercy of the one you are supposed to be advising. If you give me money for food and petrol every time can I rebuke you if you go wrong? I think we need people of substance around any flagbearer including John Mahama. He needs people who can look him in the face when he errs and speak to him in plain language that he’s wrong”.
