What was intended to be a holiday treat and an exciting excursion to Lake Bonsomtwi for students of the Osino Presbyterian Junior High School in the Eastern Region, turned into a state of utter shock and grief when one of their colleagues died in a spine-chilling manner before their very eyes.

The deceased, Dede Bertha, a JHS two student died tragically after the bus on which they were travelling crushed her head to death instantly.

An eye witness, an official of the Ghana Education Service (GES) who spoke to Kasapa News on condition of anonymity explained that the unfortunate incident  occurred when the driver of the Metro Mass Transit Bus with registration number GS 3218 – 12 upon reaching the site of Lake Bosontwe decided to drive much nearer the only natural lake in Ghana.

 “As he descended towards the lake, the bus in the process failed it brakes, the awkward movement of the bus frightened the students who thought the bus was about entering the Lake, out of fear for their lives they started shouting while others jumped out through the windows, Bertha was not lucky, as soon as she jumped out, the tyre of the bus ran over her head crushing her face beyond recognition”.

The police have since commenced investigation into the incident.
