Joyce Blessing’s video for her hit single ‘Monko Mo Akyi’ has hit a million views on YouTube, becoming the first Gospel video in Ghana to rake in that number of views.
Monko Mo Akyi (Move Back), which became an anthem for many, both Christians and non-Christians due to its resonating message of hope and optimism coupled with its danceable rhythms, grew to become a nationwide favourite within weeks of its release.
It was eventually voted the Song of the Year in 2015 at the Ghana DJ Awards.
The song is taken from her maiden album Heavy Price, released through her label, Media Excel.
Directed by Golden Eye Studio, the video comes in both long and close up shots with Joyce and her friends showcasing their Azonto and alkayida dance moves.
One of the most recognizable elements in the video, aside the eye pleasing visuals is the fashion sense of Joyce and her friends. Their resplendent outfits are truly Ghanaian-helping sell Ghana fabrics and fashion to the rest of the world.
Joyce Blessing first broke onto the gospel music scene following her hit songs ‘Nyame Akwan Mu’, ‘Heavy Price’ and ‘Nyame Eguama’ which featured legendary Highlife musician, Jewel Ackah.
And this new feat chalked by Joyce Blessing is not only huge for her but the whole Gospel music industry in Ghana.
