The Board and Management of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital have dismissed four of its senior staff for failing to account for GHc 946,574.29 being sales revenue generated from its 24-Hour Pharmacy.
The four are Mrs. Elizabeth Bruce, Director of Pharmacy and also Director of 24-Hour Pharmacy, Mr. Eric Kwaku Kyei, Principal Pharmacist/Pharmacy Manager, Mrs. Augustina Dankyi, Pharmacy Accountant and Mr. Daniel Eledi, Stores Assistant.
Their dismissal, according to a statement issued by authorities of the health facility, Thursday, is with immediate effect.
The decision, the statement noted, was taken at an emergency meeting held on Wednesday, June 17, 2015.
“The Board’s decision is without prejudice to the ongoing criminal investigations being carried out by the Economic and Organised Crime Organization in respect of the unaccounted for fund,” part of the statement stated.
It said because the four could not account for the above mentioned amount, an administrative enquiry commissioned by the Board was set up and subsequently “established the culpability of the four individuals in respect of the unaccounted for amount.”
The Board has therefore directed management to carry out relevant internal processes and procedures on all other operations of Korle Bu with the view of putting in place robust systems and processes to forestall future such occurrences.
