Suspended National Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Paul Afoko says no sane person will tag him and other persons critical of recent events in the party, as sympathizers of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, joining the NDC or having to conspire with the party against his own NPP will be the last thing to ever cross his mind.

Paul Afoko is serving an indefinite suspension exacted against him by the NPP National Executive Council for allegedly engaging in acts that of indiscipline inimical to the electoral victory of the NPP in the upcoming November general elections.

He is currently challenging his suspension in court, arguing that the charges leveled against him are baseless.

Speaking on UTV Wednesday, Paul Afoko urged the NPP to desist from fighting members who hold divergent views but rather be accommodative of constructive criticisms as that is the best way the party can develop.

“The NPP is my home, I have nowhere to go. If you hear claims that I’m now an NDC membertreat that with contempt. The other time I heard people saying that ex President Kufour is an NDC sympathizer; I think some madness has recently crept into the NPP, so long as people don’t like what you are saying they are quick to tag you, make spurious allegations against you and call you all sorts of names.”

He added: “Look at Martin Amidu and what he did against the ruling NDC, taking the government to court and winning the case …have you ever heard any NDC member calling Martin Amidu an NPP person? But as for us we are too quick to tag people, Dr Nyaho Tamakloe has been suspended, they claim he’s flirting with the NDC, but most of us in the NPP have our friends in the NDC party.”
