The Government has described as sheer pranks being played by the opposition New Patriotic Party(NPP) to generate fear and panic over its claims of the BNI serial raids launched on the NPP.
A statement released by the communications Minister, Edward Omane Boamah said the BNI has no intentions of raiding Akufo- Addo’s residence.
“I have contacted the BNI about a so-called intended raid of the Nima offices of Mr Akufo-Addo. BNI categorically denies any such intentions and urges the general public to ignore the pranks being played by some individuals to generate artificial tension in the country,” Communication Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah said in a statement.
The denial of government in connection with the BNI alleged raids follows hundreds of party supporters who gathered at Nana Addo’s residence Friday claiming they had intelligence the BNI is planning to ransack the Nima residence of their flagbeaerer.
Two purported incidence linked to a BNI operations have happened in a row this week including an alleged raid of the offices of policy think tank, Danquah Institute, as well as an alleged invasion of Mr Akufo-Addo’s head of security, Captain Edmund Koda’s residence at Weija by police officers on Thursday March 24.
He was arrested with one Captain Acquah and implicated in the case involving the three South African ex-Police officers who were arrested on Sunday for allegedly training private security personnel of the NPP Presidential Candidate.
The opposition NPP has been accused of wanting to destabilize the security of the country by bringing the trio to train its men ahead of this year’s elections.
