The National Sports Authority is demanding some 30, 000 cedis from organizers of the June 27 testimonial for former Black Stars player Stephen Appiah, before they grant them access to the Accra Sports Stadium, where the event is scheduled to be held.
The Authority has also offered an alternative of being paid 35 percent of the gate proceeds if the 30, 000 cedis would be too much for them.
Director of the Authority, Joe Kpenge has defended their position, saying they are sticking to a strict administrative principle.
The organizers Primeval Consult have called off the bluff of the NSA and insisted “they are talking to the right people.”
“It is a national property. They don’t own it. Kpenge doesn’t own it either. He is just an appointee. we are talking to the right people, a spokesperson of the organizers,” Jeffery Asare says.
Set for June 27, the event is to feature some of the world’s biggest stars, some of whom were playmates of the former Ghana international.
Appiah guided Ghana to her first World Cup in Germany in 2006.
