The outspoken leader and founder of the Ghana Freedom Party, Madam Akua Donkor has downplayed a possible sponsorship of smaller parties from the ruling NDC and President John Mahama.
The founder of the United People’s Party (UPP), Mr. Akwasi Addae Odike has been heard on tape loudly bragging about the support he enjoys from the President and the ruling NDC, as he seeks to do their bidding, ahead of the 2016 general elections.
There have been allegations that several of the smaller parties are being bankrolled by the NDC government hence the Electoral Commission’s failure to clamp down such parties for failure to adhere to the political parties regulations.
But speaking to Kasapa FM’s Maame Broni, Madam Akua Donkor noted she prepared extensively before the formation of her Ghana Freedom Party and hence she does not seek any sponsorship package from government or an opposition party.
She said under no circumstance can she sell her conscience and the future of Ghana for peanuts.
According to Akua Donkor, her utmost aim is to become a president and contribute her quota to building the country and will resist any attempt to couch her through whatever sponsorship package.
