The Former Chief of the Defence Staff, Vice Admiral Matthew Quashie, has commissioned a new housing facility at the Support Services Brigade Group Headquarters at Burma Camp.

The 50 Units housing project has an external kitchen with an open balcony for leisure. The project was solely funded by Tullow Oil Ghana.

As Guest of Honour, Vice Admiral Matthew Quashie said the project is a timely one since issues related to accommodation for the Ghana Armed Forces in general and Ghana Navy especially has been a long standing challenge therefore the execution of the housing unit for the Navy is an impressive achievement.

Vice Admiral Matthew Quashie noted that the 50 transit housing unit will improve the accommodation situation of outstation personnel of the Ghana Navy in executing their work.

He urged personnel of the new housing units to take good care of the facilities and equipment so that they could derive maximum benefits from them.

The Former Chief of the Defence Staff commended the Chief of the Naval Staff, R/Adm P Kofi Faidoo and for the bold step to furnish Navy personnel with accommodation, Rear Admiral Godfred Biekro for upholding the vision and the contractor, Digitech Construction Limited for putting up the magnificent edifice.

Prince Darron Obasa, CEO of Digitech Construction Limited and contractor of the Navy at 50 building confirmed to Kasapafmonline.com that the total cost of the projected was $1.25million and took close to 2 years for its completion.

Meanwhile Digitech Construction Limited with twenty years formidable experience started from Canada and has constructed some notable housing units for Nigeria and Ghana respectively. The firm also supplies hardware to Ghana Armed Forces in Ghana and other countries.

As part of the commissioning of the Navy at Fifty (50) Building, fifty (50) outstanding personnel of the Navy were honoured with medals for their great deal of work in the service.
