Veteran Journalist and Social commentator, Kwasi Pratt Jnr has questioned the sudden growth of Superlocks Technologies Limited, (STL) a company that was originally set up to sell door locks which has suddenly become a powerful force to reckon with in Ghana’s economy.

According to him, he does not understand why any foreign company such as STL which is owned by Israelis will be allowed to play a role such as STL is playing in the country’s economy.

STL has reportedly executed projects estimated at $ 4.00billion in Ghana and is said to be in the process of executing several huge contracts across Ghana.

Government on the other hand through the Interior Minister, Prosper Bani has confirmed that STL is the company contracted by the Electoral Commission (EC) to transmit tallied election results during national elections, a claim that has become a subject of controversy as the EC has denied that.

But speaking on Peace FM, Kwasi Pratt Jnr stated that the phenomenal growth of STL and how influential it has become in the scheme of affairs in Ghana raises eyebrows.

“My position on STL is very clear; I started fighting them since President Kufour’s regime. I just don’t understand why any foreign country will be allowed to play the role STL is playing in Ghana’s economy. I just can’t understand it.  STL was originally registered as Superlocks Technologies Limited, which was in the sale of door locks.

“Today a company that originally was set up to sell door locks is now a dormant player in our financial sector selling data to both local and foreign banks. STL is so grown to the extent that it has entered the construction industry, executing major construction projects across the country. A company which was selling locks and all of a sudden growing so big, beats my understanding. What is really behind such phenomenal growth, I just can’t understand this”.
