Officials of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly together with some security services have ended a planned demolishing exercise of some structures at Ghana’s biggest slum, Sodom and Gomorrah, in Accra.
The exercise, which started early Saturday morning also had in attendance the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo.
An exercise that saw hundreds of dwellers watch on as their illegal structures got pulled down, it comes on the back of a hint President John Mahama gave midweek.
The exercise is also taking place side by side an ongoing dredging of the Korle Lagoon, which has gone from bad to worse due to pressure on it by the illegal settlers.
