A Communications Consultant and Host of Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana show, Paul Adom Otchere has described as a total waste of the country’s resources the decision by the Electoral Commission (EC) to embark on a rebranding drive.

According to him, there is everything wrong with the electoral body making such a controversial move at a time that the country insists there is lack of funds to undertake certain pertinent exercises in relation to the upcoming general elections.

“It is total waste of the country’s resources to be rebranding anything at this time few months to the general elections. There is confusion about everything concerning the EC, the Interior Minister says something, she contradicts it, Kofi Adams says another and there is total hogwash of everything around the EC and the next thing we hear…we don’t have confidence in something, she’s supposed to give us confidence and she says I am rebranding and I’m loving the logo. She is supposed to give us credible election and not loving logos and decided what Coat of Arms should mean and actually getting it wrong. This is sad,” an angry and disappointed Adom Otchere fumed.

The Electoral Commission on Tuesday at the launch of a five-year Development Plan introduced to the public its new logo.

The Commission has said the adoption of the new logo is the right step to redefining its operations as the election management body of the country.

“The entire new identity represents a unified common purpose and vision, and demonstrates our independence as an institution.” EC Boss Charlotte Osei explained.

Paul Adom Otchere who vented his spleen on his show on TV Tuesday emphasized the evening need for the EC Boss to be more serious in the discharge of her duties.
