Today the Tribeca Film Festival held their awards ceremony, among the winners was our very own Priscilla Anany with her breakthrough first feature film “Children of the mountain”.
Filmed in Ghana and produced by I60 Productions, the film features heavy weight actors including AdjeteyAnang, Grace Omaboe (Maame Dokunu), Akofa Edjeani, William Addo (Akpatse) and Agbeko “Bex” Mortty amongst others.
Priscilla won through and was awarded the BEST NEW NARRATIVE DIRECTOR for her work on the film.
The jury Comment on the film was as follows: “So many of the films we had the pleasure of viewing were expertly directed and worthy of recognition. The winning director presents a fearless and heart-wrenching tale of an embattled mother’s high stakes journey to heal her sick child and ultimately herself.
The film delicately and powerfully directs us through an emotionally resonant story that is dark for truthful reasons and simultaneously hopeful.”
In New York for during the festival were members of the cast and crew who had left Ghana on the 15th of April to attend the festival.
As a result of the award the showings of the film have been extended by 3 more sittings on Sunday 24th of April, the last day of the festival.
Priscilla said on her Facebook page: Thanks to my family, Promedia, all cast especially RukiyatMasud, and all my Ghanaian crew and post production team in Los Angeles and New York. Super Excited!
We are looking forward to the whole country at home and in the diaspora coming out to support this uniquely African film.
