NDC stalwart Nii Lantey Vanderpuije has blamed the opposition New Patriotic Party for their role in yesterday’s demonstrations by displaced settlers of the Sodom and Gomorrah slum in the Central Business District of Accra.
Vanderpuije has also called out the newly elected parliamentary candidate of the NPP for the area as the key person behind yesterday’s disturbances.
“I saw something that is regrettable. Some people thought this was the best time for to two political lines.
I am ashamed of what NPP has done today in Accra.
“Oh they gave T shirts and flags to the people to demonstrate against the government.
“It was the parliamentary candidate for Odododiodio. Where did they get those Party Paraphernalia; it came from him.
“They claim their Party office has been affected. We’ve all been affected. We should do matured politics.
“He is a kid in politics. If this is how he is going to behave then he wouldn’t get more than 12, 000 votes.”
Yesterday’s protests saw an incensed crowd numbering hundreds demonstrate through some parts of the city including the State House, where they damaged some items.
