The newly elected Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, Gifty Twum-Ampofo, has been sworn into office.

She took the oaths of office which was administered by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Edward Doe Adjaho, when the House reconvened on Tuesday after almost two months of break to begin the 2nd Meeting of the 4th Session of the 6th Parliament of the 4th Republic.

Rt. Hon. Adjaho moments after administering the oath urged Madam Twum-Ampofo to emulate the footsteps of Joseph Boakye Danquah-Ado (deceased), immediate past MP for the area whom he described was a peace maker.

He also urged her to tap into the expertise of senior Members of the House in order to learn the rules and proceedings of the House very quickly.

The Minority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu in a sharp comment also urged the new Abuakwa North MP to apply herself religiously to the Constitution of Ghana and the Standing Orders of the House.

Majority Leader, Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, on his part said he was very happy that a female has joined the House, urging her to discharge her duties creditably.
