Flagbearer of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has hit hard on the Mahama-led administration asking it to stop sole sourcing projects, if the government is willing to bring an end to corruption in public offices.

She contends that the NDC government’s taste for sole sourcing contracts is worrying, a situation she noted also contributed to a large extent in breeding corruption in government.

“One major thing that I will say is that they should stop the sole sourcing for projects that will cut back on governmental corruption to a large extent, she told state-broadcaster GBC.

The Former First Lady also criticised the media for not playing its watch dog role very well to expose the many corrupt activities that are sometimes swept under the carpet.

“And then we should also stop bribing everybody for everybody to keep quiet about issues that are happening. We are supposed to have a vibrant media. If the media in general does not see anything wrong with what is happening in this country where we are deeply steeped in corruption and the country seems to be sinking and yet not much is being said we ask ourselves what is happening? she questioned.

Meanwhile, policy think IMANI Ghana claims corruption in state institutions is taking a toll on the economy as the nation loses over $3 billion of taxpayer’s money in corrupt activities every year.

But President Mahama insists his government has fought corruption more than previous governments.
