Former Black Stars defender John Paintsil has been put behind bars for assaulting a Police officer and allegedly stealing his wife’s car.

Narrating the incidence, ASP Afia Tenge, Public Relations Officer at the Greater Accra Regional Police Command said a report was made against Painstil by Richlove, his wife for stealing her car which the police in turn invited both parties to enable them commence investigations.

According to her, “there was a meeting that was supposed to be held between the two parties and in the cause of the meeting we realised that John Painstil was failing to cooperate and it was at this point that the District Commander ordered that we should arrest him and also take a statement from him.”

John Painstil, during the process “got furious and even had to hit the District Commander in the eye,” ASP Tenge said.

The former Black Stars defender has therefore been held by the police while they continue their investigations

This is not the first time the former Black Stars player has had issues with the law.

In February, 2013, he was alleged to have attacked his wife Richlove following a misunderstanding at their East Legon residence.
