The Ashanti Regional police Command has promised to launch investigations into the circumstances under which a 22 year old man was beaten to death by Police in Krofuom.
The deceased Osei Tawiah was allegedly beaten to death yesterday, after the Policemen on patrol duties mistook him for a criminal.
The bizarre incidence compelled angry youth in the area to stage a demonstration against the police Friday, demanding that justice be served them.
But the Ashanti Regional police Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye has asked residents to exercise restraint as the Police awaits the autopsy report to enable them investigate the unfortunate incident.
He claimed he would personally lead the investigations to have the police officers arrested, if they’re implicated in the report.
“Lets not do anything to mar the peace which the residents of Krofuom are enjoying – taking the laws into your hands will not solve the problem. I assure you we’ll get to the bottom of the matter.”
