A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bosomtwe district, and a Polling Station Chairman for Apotuogya DA Primary in the Ashanti Region has been shot dead by suspected armed robbers in his home.

The incident reportedly happened on Tuesday 9pm when the deceased Baah Tweneboah aka Agya Baah had returned from work.

Eye witness report say three men suspected to be armed robbers followed the deceased to his house, soon after which they heard gunshots, and later found out that Agya Baah had been killed.

Bright, a friend to the deceased and also an NPP youth organizer for the area told Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM that three others including two of the deceased’s children and one other, also a resident of the area who had come to fetch water from his house sustained injuries on their heads as a result of the pellets of the gunshots that spread.

The wife, Esther Adomako was also beaten during the process, he said.

According to him, the robbers took away some personal belongings of the deceased like phones, laptops and camera.

Bright said he suspects foul play in the attack.

“Its quiet difficult to understand why the suspected robbers on a supposed robbery spree will just target one house leaving the rest. They normally attack multiple houses in such operations. Besides there are several houses before you’ll even reach the deceased’s home- so why didn’t they rob the other houses? Bright queried.

The District Police command has since conveyed the body to the mortuary for autopsy.

Agya Baah is a middle-aged man and was an Agricultural Extension Officer in Kumasi.

Meanwhile the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye led his team of officers to the scene this morning to begin investigations into the incidence.
