The death toll in the Cape Coast floods in the Central Region has risen to 10.

The flooding follows four days of torrential rains which wreaked havoc in the city.

The Regional Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Sandy Amartey made the disclosure to the media.

He noted that the deaths resulted mostly from accidents with the rest dying out of the floods.

“Some were swept away by the strong running water, others were electrocuted while the rest were accidentally hit by broken walls.”

Areas such as Amamoma, Antaado, Kwahinkrom and Agona Swedru among others were the worst hit.

The situation left several roads being blocked, while many residents were rendered homeless.

Officials of the National Disaster Management Organization are still continuing with their assistance of the affected persons.
