Ken Agyepong

Kyedomhene of Efutuakwa Traditional Council in the Assin area of the Central Region, Nana Kwasi Wadie II, has defended the Assin North legislator over his misogynist comment against the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Charlotte Osei.

The chief who is among the few people defending the eccentric MP and has dared the EC Boss to pursue the case in court if she feels offended by the comments made against her person.

The foul-mouthed Legislator during the campaign launch of the Asokwa MP, Patricia Apeagyei on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the EC Boss alleging that she did not secure her position based on competence and merit.

Agyapong said some highly placed officials in government told Osei to “bring your buttocks in exchange of EC Chair position.”

His comments have been met with heavy flak from a section of the public who see it as debasing womanhood with his unfortunate utterances and must be roundly condemned.

There was a demonstration by women led by NDC Eastern Regional Women’s Organizer Evelyn Korang against the MP’s conduct in Koforidua on Thursday and are asking the Privileges Committee of Parliament to take punitive measures against him.

But the Chief who’s engaging himself in an unpopular action of defending the maverick politicians has told Joy News he doesn’t understand why people are all over the place condemning Ken Agyepong when the EC Boss as a lawyer can seek relief in court.

“Ken Agyepong did not insult all Ghanaian women, he was speaking directly to the EC Boss, that she might have gotten the job by using her body, he spoke twi; people who don’t understand the language must seek help from others who can interpret his comments.”
