The Winneba Magistrate Court has sentenced a farmer to 12 months imprisonment in hard labour for stealing a jumbo sized polytank.
Cadman Buabeng, 30, alias Ebo pleaded not guilty but after the trial he was found guilty and sentenced accordingly.
Narrating the facts of the matter to the Court presided over by Mr Alexandra Oworae, Police Inspector Peter Agbelie said the complainant of the case is a farm manager of JKBA
Farms at Gomoa Adawukwa near Winneba Junction. He said Kwame Acheampong, now at large, is a former employee of the aforementioned farm whereas Buabeng and Yakubu Mawuli are also farmers who reside at Gomoa Mpota near Gomoa
Adawukwa are the accused persons. The prosecution said Kwame Acheampong had earlier threatened to show the complainant a lesson and he was dismissed two days before the theft happened.
Inspector Agbelie said in the early hours of 4th March, 2016, the accused persons entered the farm premises of JKBA farm and stole a jumbo sized poly tank which was kept on the farm.
He said whilst they were undertaking the operation, they were seen by a witness. The prosecution said a complaint was later lodged at the police station and Cadman Buabeng and Yakubu Mawuli were arrested, saying at an identification parade the witness identified Buabeng and after investigations he was charged with the offence.
The police are still searching for Kwame Acheampong.
