Ghana’s senior national football team, the Black Stars, have moved up one place in the latest edition of the Coca-Cola FIFA Ranking released on 11 August 2016.

The Black Stars are now the 35th best  national team in the world.

The Stars overtook Ivory Coast and are now ranked the second best team in Africa behind Algeria.

On continental level, Ghana overtook Ivory Coast and are ranked the second best in Africa behind Algeria (32) and Cote d’Ivoire (36), and ahead of Senegal (41) and Egypt (43).

Tunisia (45), Morocco (53), Cameroon (54), Congo DR (56), Cape Verde (58), Mali (59), Congo (63), South Africa (64), Uganda (65), Guinea (66), Nigeria (67), Benin (72), Burkina Faso (73), Guinea Bissau (75) and Equatorial Guinea (85) complete the top 20.

Back on the global stage, Argentina, Belgium, Colombia, Germany, Chile, Portugal, France, Spain, Brazil and Italy comprising the top ten in that order.

Ghana’s highest ever performance since the ranking’s introduction in August 1993 remains a 14thplace in February 2008, while their worst placement was an 89th position in June 2004.
