Armed robbers Tuesday morning attacked a bullion van at Maame Krobo in the Kwahu Afram Plains South District of the Eastern Region, killing the driver instantly with a police officer who was escorting the van sustaining gunshot wounds.
Reports are belonging as to which of the banks in the area’s bullion van the armed robbers attacked.
The police officer, Kasapafmonline.com understands, is now receiving treatment at a hospital in Donkokrom.
The incident, according to eyewitnesses, occurred around 10:30am.
“They ambushed the van and attacked by shooting the driver. The police officer then fired back but was hit by a bullet. The bullion van veered off the road and run into the bush and in the process killing the driver instantly. The police officer sustained gunshots wounds”, he noted.
