Two Police officers who were arrested in connection to Tuesday morning’s attempted robbery attack on GCB bullion have reportedly escaped from prison Police custody.

The duo escaped together with one other person who is also said to be connected to the attempted robbery incident that happened at Maame Krobo in the Kwahu Afram Plains South District of the Eastern Region.

Reports say the trio escaped at Nkawkaw when they were being transferred to Koforidua, the regional capital.

The incident, Kasapafmonline.com understands took place when the vehicle which was transferring them made a stopover at a fuel filling station to refill its tank.

Armed robbers on Tuesday morning attacked a GCB Bank bullion van at Maame Krobo killing the driver instantly with a police officer who was escorting the van sustaining gunshot wounds.

But the armed robbers, according to the District Police Commander, Supt. Isaac Obeng Dompreh, did not succeed in taking any money or property from the bullion van.
