Lawyers for the freed Montie 3 have discounted claims by section of the public suggesting that the euphoria that surrounded the release of their clients largely celebrates them as heroes in wrongdoing.

The trio Friday were received into the arms of teeming crowds of NDC supporters at the premises of Radio Gold in the early hours of Friday.

Scores of their followers were gathered at the premises of Radio Gold to catch a glimpse of their freedom after a Presidential pardon that saw a remission of their 4-month jail term.

In reaction to the assertion that the contemnors ought not to have been given the rousing welcome which they were met with when they walked home Friday from jail, Counsel George Loh said these are popular people with massive followers, hence the thunderous welcome they had was not out of place.

“As a matter of fact people were prepared to bus themselves there but we stopped all that just to again reinforce the fact that his Excellency President John Dramani Mahama is not endorsing wrongdoing. But these are popular people-they sit on radio everyday and talk to millions of people on daily basis, they have families, admirers, friends who are excited to see them back. And therefore when they learnt that they’re out and that they were heading to Radio Gold to meet with the Directors and management off-course well wishers trooped in there we couldn’t have done anything about that” he explained.

Meanwhile the three have expressed their appreciation to President Mahama for remitting a 4-month prison sentence handed them by the supreme court.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the President, John Mahama for graciously exercising his constitutional powers under Article 72 in our favour in remitting the remaining custodial sentence imposed on us recently,” the host of the Pampaso Radio programme, Salifu Maase said while addressing supporters who’d gathered to witness their return from prison.
