The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Running mate for the 2016 elections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, says the Mahama led-administration will continue to hoodwink Ghanaians with the campaign mantra of securing a solid foundation for the smooth take off of the economy, should Ghanaians give Mahama the mandate in the December elections.
According to him, Mahama and his handlers of the economy seemed to be building a never -endless foundation with nothing to show for in critical sectors of the economy, demanding that Ghanaians vote out the NDC government as it is only putting a wool on the eyes of the people.
President John Mahama,ahead of a major poll slated for December, insists he had laid a solid foundation bidding Ghanaians for a second term to enable him to transform Ghana on the foundation he has built.
But, Bawumia asserted that President Mahama has only destroyed the robust Ghanaian economic foundation built by former President John Agyekum Kufuor, from 2001 to 2008.
For the former Deputy governor of the Bank of Ghana, the “concrete” foundation secured in the early days by the Kufuor regime has literally been replaced with that of a “straw” by President Mahama.
“The truth is that the foundation was already laid by the Kufuor government. President Mahama has spent the last eight years destroying the foundation and replacing it with a weak foundation of straw which he desperately tries to portray as a concrete,”
Dr. Bawumia made the remark while delivering a lecture in the capital,Accra on Thursday.
The lecture was themed: “The State of the Ghanaian Economy – A Foundation of Concrete or Straw.”
