The 2016 Presidential nominee of the largest opposition New Patriotic Party(NPP) will file his nominations with the Electoral Commission tomorrow, Thursday, September 29 to contest the Presidential slot for the 2016 polls in December, Acting General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu has disclosed.

The nominee in the company of party officials will visit the EC’s office Thursday morning to seal his candidature for the crucial polls with some 70 days to go.

Under the law, two registered voters from each of the districts across the country are supposed to endorse the forms of each of the presidential aspirants.

Boadu told host Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM Wednesday that about 95% of the delegates of the party have endorsed the candidature of Nana Addo for the Presidency paving way for the party officials to present him to the EC.

“All things being equal, we are filing for our nominee tomorrow. Everything is set; all the signatures of two registered voters from the 216 districts countrywide have been secured. The portion supposed to be filled by the running mate has also been completed including the aspect of asset declaration on the forms. So tomorrow by 9:00 am, we’ll file his nominations,” the Acting General Secretary of the party said.

The filing of nominations for the Presidential aspirants will close Thursday, and Friday, September 29 and 30, 2016 respectively.

Meanwhile, some 25 aspirants have so far picked presidential nomination forms to become presidential candidates for political parties or independent candidates.The political parties which have picked nomination forms for their presidential aspirants so far are the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), the National Democratic Party (NDP), the United Development System Party (UDSP), the People’s National Convention (PNC) and the United Love Party (ULP).Others are the Independent People’s Party (IPP), the United Progressive Party (UPP), the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), the United Front Party (UFP), the Democratic People’s Party (DPP), the All People’s Congress (APC), the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) and the Reform Patriotic Democrats (RPD).

The independent candidates are Mr Jacob Osei-Yeboah, Mr Kwaku Antwi Owusu, Mr Lawrence Yamil Nketia, Mr Kwame Asiedu Walker, Chief Dr Yaw Kumi, John Alex Hamah and Major Ibrahim Rida (retd).
