Members of the Industrial and Commercial Workers  Union (ICU) have hit the streets in Tema to demonstrate over the high cost of living in the country.

The Secretary General of the ICU, Solomon Kotei, says workers cannot continue to bear the brunt of the economic melt down, hence they must be given a window of relief to cushion them against the economic mess in the country.

The ICU has also expressed its disapproval of the way taxes get compounded which ostensibly doesn’t commensurate the earnings of the Ghanaian worker.

“Govt is failing to expand tax net but rather pushing more on people already in the tax line”

Some representatives from ICU offices in Kumasi, Takoradi, Ho and Koforidua joined their colleagues to protest.
