musician Royal Chris dazzled audience at the 2015 Ghana UK-Based Achievement (GUBA) Awards, which came off at the Hilton London Metropole Hotel in London on Saturday 4 July 2015.

In its 5th year, the GUBA Awards seeks to recognize achievers in different spheres of Ghanaian life and saw a host of top dignitaries present including former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, UK Labour MP Diane Abbott and was spiced up by musical performances.

Singer, songwriter, and musician Royal Chris opened the show with the ever-inspiring patriotic anthem composed by Ephraim Amu, “Yεn Ara Asaase Ne” as the Ghanaians in the auditorium stood to their feet in acknowledgement of their allegiance to Ghana. It was simply a spectacle.

“I want to create music that’s worthy and makes people want to dance and feel the spirit of God and give them value,” said the Vodafone Icons winner

Chris has always been serious with music at an early age. He believes that his ambition to transform lives through inspired rhythmic words of God.

He performed numerous times at many talent shows till he finally won the Vodafone Icons: Remix Edition in 2014 in Accra. He has then gradually been moving steadily to growing a career with his first single, which features international afro-gospel sensation, based in the UK, Sonnie Badu.

This earned him a performance at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2015 as he performed live on stage with his mentor Sonnie Badu.

His activities following his fantastic GUBA Awards performance in the UK will be to shoot a very catchy yet soulful debut music video. This is sure to have many singing along his song Otega.

While he finishes his album project with songs like Jehovah to add to his credit, Otega has similarly had steady radio play.

“He’s absolutely going to be just a huge, huge, huge gospel star,” Sonnie Badu said about Royal Chris, although he missed the awards ceremony.

“But not in the way people have been thinking of gospel music in the past ten years,” added Dentaa Amoateng, CEO of GUBA.
