The Flagbearer of United Progressive Party (UPP) Kwesi Addai Odike, has withdrawn his filing of Presidential nomination for the upcoming December 7 election.

The politician cum businessman caused his layers to notify the Electoral Commission (EC) of his decision citing personal reasons for his action. He had earlier filed his nomination on the 29th October.

But at the close of filing nominations, the Commission said it was unable to accept Mr. Odike’s nomination forms until the matter in court challenging his membership and candidature is concluded.

The EC hoped that Mr. Odike and the UPP would have resolve the matter by October 14, 2016; after which date the Commission would be unable to process the nomination.

The Commission was served with court processes challenging the membership and candidacy of Mr. Akwasi Addai Odike by some members of the United Progressive Party.

The processes sought to restrain the Electoral Commission from issuing, accepting and registering Mr. Odike to contest the 2016 presidential election as the flag bearer of the UPP.

However the ruling on the case is yet to be made.

The EC is expected by close of Wednesday to announce the final list of the disqualified presidential aspirant who have been admitted to contest the upcoming poll.
