Police in Mamponteng in the Kwabre East district of the Ashanti region have rescued a newly born baby from a public Toilet.

According to the Police, they received a distress call from a resident who found the baby when she visited the facility Tuesday morning.

With his umbilical cord yet to be cut off, residents believe the mother of the baby dumped him into the latrine after delivery.

The baby has been sent to the Adanwomaso hospital where he is currently receiving medical treatment.

ASP I.D Kwafo, the Mamponteng crime Officer told Starr News that no suspect has been arrested so far. He added that investigations are ongoing to arrest the mother of the baby.

Meanwhile, residents have mounted a search for the mother who is believed to be either in the neighbourhood or came from an adjourning town to dump the baby.
