Prez Mahama has cautioned foreign companies operating in the country, especially, in the cement industry, against unfair trade practices.
According to the President, some foreign companies engage in practices that put local ones at a disadvantage.
His comment follows agitations by local cement manufacturers that unfair competition in the industry is putting them out of business.
There have been hue and cry about the importation of bagged cement into Ghana by local companies.
The Association of Cement Manufacturers of Ghana have accused Nigerian multinational firm, Dangote, and other cement importers of engaging in unfair trade practices to gain competitive advantage over their products.
For example, the local cement manufacturers say the low price of Dangote cement and other cement importers is seriously affecting their business.
Dangote has since challenged the accusations, insisting that its prices are legitimately competitive.
But President Mahama commissioning CIMAF cement factory, a Moroccan cement firm, in Accra on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, said his administration will do everything possible to protect local companies.
The €60 million cement firm which will operate under the free zones board has the capacity to produce one million tons of cement annually.
