The Liberty Professionals youngster is likely to play in the South African topflight next season

Ghana Premier League top scorer Latif Blessing could be playing in South Africa next season, according to Liberty Professionals director George Afriyie.

The 19-year-old netted 17 times in 24 matches, including a last day hat-trick in a 3-1 win over Bechem United, as the Scientific Soccer Lads beat the relegation drop by a whisker.

His impressive performance predictably made him a transfer target for a host of teams – both local and foreign.

“We have actually received an offer from a Club in South Africa for Latif,” Afriyie told Nhyira FM.

“We are ready to let him go because we think the offer is good.

“We compared the offer with the ones we have received so far and think it is the best.

“He might leave before the season begins.”

Local giants Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko have both expressed interest in the playmaker, with the latter said to be in advanced talks for his signature.

“It is possible [I could join Hearts or Kotoko] because it is the dream of every local player to play for a big club in Ghana,” Blessing had told Goal in October.

“Growing up, people said I resembled [former Kotoko and Hearts playmaker] Charles Taylor, so the dream was to also play for a big team in Ghana like Taylor did.

“If only my management thinks the move will be good for me, why not? Both Hearts and Kotoko are big clubs so I have no preference,” he had said.

Blessing also netted four times in the Ghana FA Cup.
