
Ghanaians flocked to the polls at dawn to cast their ballots for the December 7 polls.
Voters were seen as early as 3:00 am on the eve of the voting day in long queues in various polling stations in the capital, Accra.
At the La- Nkwantanang sub-district forinstance, ahead of the opening of polls at 7:00am on Wednesday, December 7, eligible voters seeking early voting showed up early to form winding queues.
Meanwhile at some polling stations voters were agitating the positioning of the polling booths which saw some confrontations.
“We want the booths to face the crowd so we can see whatever is going on. There should be transparency in the exercise.” some anxious voters told Kasapafmonline.com.
Seven presidential candidates are contending for the presidency including the incumbent who has been in power since 2012, John Dramani Mahama, of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, the three-time Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP, the main opposition), and Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, of the National Democratic Party (NDP).
Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Paa Kwesi Nduom, of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Edward Mahama, of the People’s National Convention (PNC), and an Independent Candidate, Jacob Osei Yeboah, are all vying for the highest office of the country.
Today’s polls will also see 1158 candidates who are running for the legislative positions to form the next parliament( 275 members).
